Heroes and Idols...

Automatically, when someones says 'Heroes and Idols' to me, I always think of either Superheroes or celebrities, etc. Although, there are more people out there that deserve more appreciation as Idols, for example; Soldiers, Family members, Firemen, Doctors, etc... I am going to split this blog into two paragraphs, one for my heroes and idols within celebrities and one for my heroes and idols within real life situations.

So firstly, for my first paragraph, because I thought that idols within celebrities are more obvious to this topic, I will write about this first. My idol within celebrities is either Avril Lavigne or Taylor Swift. Firstly, I chose Avril Lavigne because I have always liked her since I was little when she brought out 'Sk8r Boy' and I think she is different to a lot of singers out there. As I said before, I have always been a fan of Avril Lavigne, up to this very day. I simply idolize her because I love her music, the way she dresses and she seems like a normal, everyday teenager like many of her fans. Although her music has changed quite a lot over the years, I still consider her as my idol.

I also idolize Taylor Swift because she is a young teenager who has followed her dream. I wouldn't say that she is as popular in the UK as she is in America and Canada or within my friends, I have listened to her music for at least 1 to 2 years now and I've never gotten bored of her songs. I think she's my idol for the same reasons as Avril Lavigne basically, I love her music, I've always wanted her hair and she doesn't act as if she's amazing and better than all the rest.

Lastly, I don't have a specific person who I idolize in the 'real world' but I've always found that people within Emergency Services are true heroes. This is because they simply, save people. I have no other reason for idolizing these people if I'm being honest apart from the fact that they save people's lives.

Change...

My topic for my second blog is change. There are many different subjects of change to choose from; from the environment to someone growing up from a baby to an adult although, I'm going to stick to my subject before and write about change in fashion, make up and hairstyles.
First of all, fashion has changed dramatically over the years but to me, the most obvious changes were within the 1900's (60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's). Fashion gradually changed over these 50 (ish) years. Here are a few paragraphs of what was in fashion in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and what is in fashion now, maybe even what has come back into fashion.
To begin with, I will talk about the fashion in the 60's. Fashion in the 60's was quite basic and there were not many bright colors, many people wore; hippie/festival clothing (bando's, fringed tops, fringed jackets, jeans) and mini dresses/skirts. Here are a few example:

As you can see, these pictures are exactly how I described them to be, simple but short dresses, fringed jackets, bando's and the list goes on. Although the short dresses and skirts have always been in fashion, hippie/festival looks haven't but recently, they have come back in fashion. I have seen many people wear bando's, anklets, jeans (which have always been in fashion, obviously. Although, different types of jeans have come in and out of fashion), fringed tops which are in fashion right at this moment and fringed jackets, I have also seen fringed jackets a lot recently.

The hairstyles were quite short but very big in the 60's. A good example is from the film 'Hairspray', during this film, there is a lot of big hair, curly at the bottom and huge at the top.

Moving onto the 70's, these years were all about the flares and flower power! I think many people were influenced by Abba as they were a very big band back then and they had a lot of fans who followed their fashion and hairstyles. There was a big change from 60's to the 70's as more color was introduced and the outfits were becoming much more exciting and 'WOW'.

Hairstyles didn't change a lot during the 60's and 70's, although, during the 70's the hairstyles grew longer but still stayed curly/wavy.

20 years on, fashion has changed dramatically from simple short dresses to flower prints and flares to bright neon colors, leggings, leg warmers, sunglasses, bead necklaces, slogan tops and many more. I think this was the most fun fashion trend out of all of them because it looked fun and bright whereas the rest of the trends were fairly dull.
Many fans in the 80's followed their favourite celebrities and singers, Madonna was a very big fashion icon in the 80's to all her fans, everyone loved her and her fashion. MC Hammer brought out a new fashion with his baggy trousers, although, I don't think many people followed his fashion whereas nowadays, baggy trousers are in fashion (Harem trousers).

In my opinion, when I think of 80's hairstyles, I imagine messy hair up in a ponytail with bright neon accessories matching the outfits.

Lastly, the year I was born, I don't think there was a typical fashion. I think the best example for the fashion in the 90's was the programme 'Saved by the Bell'. As you can see from the picture below (far left), there was no particular fashion, people just wore anything and everything, the only trend that I can think of for the 90's was Denim; Denim Jackets, Denim Tops and Jeans.

I don't think there was a typical hairstyle for the 90's either but mainly short hair (bobs) came up in the search engine. Also, a lot of pictures of Jennifer Aniston came up of when she was in the very popular programme 'Friends'. Back then, she had a very choppy bob and I think many of her fans wanted her hair so that's where this hairstyle might of started.

For my first blog, I am going to write about what I am most interested in which is the latest trends for Summer. I am going to write a paragraph each for all the trends I love right this moment adding photos along the way, telling you how I would wear the clothing pieces and many more. I would recommend Republic (http://www.republic.com/) because you can find all of the latest trends within this store at a reasonable price.

Republic - £24.99
 Firstly, I think that Chino/Paperbag Shorts are a must-have this Summer! They are so comfortable, they are basically in every shop at the moment and you can wear them with almost anything. In my opinion, I think Chino/Paperbag Shorts will stay in fashion for quite a long time (hopefully anyway). There are many pieces of clothing that you can wear with Chino/Paperbag Shorts (either dressing it up or down);
Dressing it down:
  • A Plain White or Colored Top
  • Roman Sandals
  • Cardigan
  • Tights/Long Socks
  • Simple Jacket/Denim Jacket
Dressing it up:
  • Sheer Blouse
  • Blazer
  • Heels
  • Sleeveless Blouse
And many more...

This is an example of how I would dress up some Chino/Paperbag shorts.
Secondly, my other favourite trend this Summer is Chino's, they come in mens and womens.
Republic - £29.99
As well as the Chino/Paperbag shorts, Chino Trousers are also very comfy, I wouldn't say they are as comfy as the shorts though. They come in a various amount of colors but I prefer them in a sandy color like in the picture below. I have seen a lot of people wear chinos whether it's shopping, going out for a meal or out with their friends, Chinos are a very nice way to look fashionable but still comfy even if you wear it with an old Tee tucked in.

This is an example of how to dress down some Chino's.
For my next trend, I am going to write about Peter Pan Collar Tops/Dresses, Sheer Blouses and Sleeveless Tops all in one because I think they are all quite similar in ways.

Republic - £29.99

Peter Pan Collars are a great way of dressing up an outfit in my opinion although you can get some casual tops with Peter Pan Collars. I don't have one myself but I have heard that they are very comfy to wear and can go with nearly anything because most of the tops are made of 3% (ish) Elastine so obviously, it is quite stretchy which I find makes it comfier. As they are called Peter Pan Collars they come in tops and dresses (as you can see in the picture to the left). The dresses are also made from Elastine (most of them) which makes them very comfy. All of these trends are in most Highstreet Shops.

Topshop - £22.50

I have seen a lot of people pair Sleeveless Shirts with Denim Shorts, Chinos etc. Many Highstreet Shops have Sleeveless Tops especially Topshop which come in various colors such as; Purple, Coral, Red, Green, Yellow and they even do lace which I think are really nice. In my opinion, I don't think they are worth the money because I wouldn't pay more than £20 on a simple top like this although, I really do like them.

Republic - £24.99

I love Sheer Blouses, although I don't have one myself. They mostly come in Cream, White and Pastel colors which are my favourite colors to wear. I think they look quite girly and elegant because of the pale colors but are still quite casual. As well as all the other tops, I have seen a lot of people wear Sheer Blouses tucked in to Chinos, Jeans, Chino Shorts etc. I would wear a Sheer Blouse with Jeans or Chino Shorts with a Blazer and Brogues, I find this outfit nice and comfortable.

Republic - £29.99
Maxi Dresses are a very nice way of dressing up in the evening, for the beach or going out for a meal. They come in different kind of patterns (abstract, floral, tribal etc) or block colors (basically any color). I can't wear Maxi Dresses myself because I find that they don't suit teenagers my height and they suit taller girls and the Maxi Dress to the right, is made from Elastine like the tops so it is very comfortable to wear out. Republic sell them for a reasonable price whereas other places sell them for ridiculous prices. I would wear Maxi Dresses like the one to the right out for dinner whereas I would wear Maxi Dresses like the ones below to the beach.

Republic - £10 in the Sale

Republic - £29.99

Republic - £29.99
Lastly, my favourite trend for the Summer is deffinately Playsuits/Jumpsuits. They are the most comfortable outfits to wear and you don't need to worry about bottoms and tops matching! As well as Maxi Dresses, Playsuits and Jumpsuits also come in patterns and block colors as you can see to the right, I prefer them in patterns because I think they look much nicer. As you can see, the Playsuit from Topshop is like a Sleeveless Top and shorts mixed together so they have put two fashion trends together. Although, the Playsuit from Topshop is fairly expensive and I wouldn't waste £40 on a Playsuit.

Topshop - £40
